Chameau Mort Sandstone Fm LITHOLOGY= USGS chart places this unnamed formation at the base of the Malm Stage, in the Upper Jurassic. This name is not currently used when classifying this bed. It is now considered part of the Kikla Formation, along with the previously named Giosc Shale. This unit is cross-bedded continental sandstone with occasional claystone bands, marking a deposition of subaerial origin close to the shoreline CALIBRATION = Base of Late Jurassic (Oxfordian).
